WASTED

FOUR TEENAGERS ACCUSED OF MURDER.
SOMEONE DIES…DON’T TELL.

WASTED (1999)

Four teenagers are being interrogated for a murder. As their interconnected stories come together, with each viewpoint slightly different from the last, a startling narrative of abuse, neglect and bullying is exposed. Who is the victim? And who is to blame? The answers are not what you would expect. Don’t tell…

Shot on a shoestring budget in the pre-digital era between 1995 and 1996 on Super-16mm film, WASTED enjoyed a brief theatrical run in Los Angeles, but never secured commercial distribution. The handful of VHS copies of the director’s assembly have since vanished. Lost to the sands of time. Plans are underway to digitize the original camera negative and recut the film. And a modern “reboot” of the script is finished and making the rounds. Two decades after the original film was created, the story of alienated teenagers is more prescient than ever. In the modern age, the ability to bully someone as easily as sending a text makes WASTED more relevant than it ever was.
